Vizio exchanged my VF552XVT for this newer model because of the problem with the backlight going completely out whenever the picture is mostly black. The new TV is STILL doing this, and seems to be inherent in most Vizio TVs that have this feature. I'm hoping Vizio will fix this problem once and for all- they can upgrade the firmware on these through the internet, so nobody has to come fix it or anything like that.
I hope my using a laserdisc won't confuse anyone too much- I chose this because of the frames of black in this movie, and to show how analog video noise causes a flickering effect during black. This would not be a problem if the LEDs simply didn't go completely out like this!
Picture levels are set higher than normal just so the effect would show up on camera, but this happens regardless of setting, only exception being that it will stop blacking out if the Brightness is at 71 or higher- of course then, that's too high!
